how to copy all files from gofile account with rclone

To copy all files from your Gofile account using rclone, you need to first

configure a Gofile remote and then use the rclone copy command. A Gofile premium account is required for rclone connectivity.

Step 1: Configure a Gofile Remote

Open your terminal or command prompt and run the rclone configuration command:

bash
rclone config

Follow the interactive prompts:Select n to create a new remote.Enter a name for your remote (e.g., mygofile) and press Enter. From the list of storage options, type gofile (or the corresponding number) and press Enter. You will be prompted for your API Access Token. Log in to your Gofile account via the web interface, go to "My Profile", and copy your "Account API token".Paste the API token into the terminal and press Enter. You can leave the account_id and root_folder_id blank unless you have specific needs to restrict rclone to a certain folder.Accept the default for advanced config options (type n).Confirm the configuration settings (type y).Type q to quit the config.

Step 2: Copy the Files

Once your Gofile remote is configured, you can copy all files from it to a local destination (e.g., a local directory named ~/gofile_backup).

Use the rclone copy command with the name of your remote (mygofile:) as the source and your local path as the destination:

bash
rclone copy mygofile: ~/gofile_backup --progress

mygofile:: This is the name you gave your rclone remote during the configuration step, followed by a colon. This refers to the root of your Gofile storage.~/gofile_backup: This is the local directory where the files will be copied. Make sure this directory exists or create it beforehand.--progress: This flag is optional but recommended to view real-time transfer statistics and progress.

The rclone copy command will recursively copy all contents of your Gofile account into the specified local directory. It only copies files that are different or missing from the destination, making it efficient for subsequent backups.

Optional: Sync Files

If you want to ensure the destination directory is an exact replica of the source (meaning files deleted on Gofile are also deleted locally), you can use the rclone sync command instead of copy (use --dry-run first to test the command without data loss):

bash
rclone sync mygofile: ~/gofile_backup --progress --dry-run
Review the output to ensure it does what you expect, then run without --dry-run
rclone sync mygofile: ~/gofile_backup --progress
